“way too B tight” is an offline experiment by bonnie’ cigar, comprising a script-reading workshop and a night screening. The event’s title originates from a murder case sparked by fury over a ketchup bottle cap screwed on too tightly. An everyday product, an everyday action, an everyday narrative—at a certain moment, pushed to a crossroad, in which the everyday bursts a crack, and the incident unfolds from within.
If one is to encapsulate such an event, carving it onto a disc for endless playback—side A would be the meticulously crafted narrative, yearning to be seen; side B would be the very gibberish and chaos that its counterpart rejects. It is akin to frying a fish. Before turning it over, one cannot discern whether it is golden or burnt. Yet the aroma and sizzle emanating from the pan unmistakably signal that a fish is being cooked. Only upon flipping it can one glimpse the resulting dish. “way too B tight” uses B-cut as the entry point to crime, seeking to explore what kinds of happening might emerge from the surging currents. These events do not represent a single truth, but rather joints that are constantly generating themselves with an expanding nexus.
